I have talked to some people who seem to believe that only one person here will have their wish granted, in the end. That we're all in competition, and that logically, the smartest thing to do is to eliminate some of those competitors.

Besides, I seem to recall someone mentioning that it was more like a... lottery. That there could be multiple winners, but that there would be less overall if more people won. So perhaps, they are trying to knock some of the competitors out to increase their chances, but I'm not sure where the idea that only one person would get what they wanted came from...
