...ahaha, it turned out that it wasn't. My brother ascended naturally, but my ascension was a sham - it even fooled me. My brother planned it all, and I wouldn't have known if it wasn't for the memories we saw here a few weeks ago.

So I'm going to have to figure out what to do about that, once I go back.

How do you even fake that? A godly ascension?

It's unthinkable, right? That's why I never questioned it, and why nobody else did, either. It shouldn't have been possible.

[she sighs.]

But each individual is born with a certain fate. To try and keep that monster away from me, to fool it, he found someone who was born on the same day as me, who had the same character in their name as me, and swapped our fates. I ascended, and that person was tormented in my place.

It's okay. I mean, not what your brother did, but... Even if the reason for your ascension was fake, you've still been a god for a while, right? That part was real. You don't have to take it away from yourself out of guilt or anything. You didn't know.

There's a lot of things I didn't know. But... now that I know them, I can do something about it.

... Well, if it helps, Greed said we're not limited to keeping the same wish we came here for, or even from wishing for more than one thing. Something about layers?

Mm, I heard something like that too. [that's why she was talking about her original wish with "was" rather than "is"!] So there's a chance to put it right if I make it to the end of this - I'm grateful for that.

It'd be nice to have some kind of perk for going through all of this, right?

Yeah... that's for sure. I don't want to just go through all this for no reason.

Seriously, it's still up for debate if all of this is worth it with the carrot on a stick. If it turns out to have just been a stick, I'm going to lose it.

If it's just been a stick the whole time, I'm blowing this entire indulgence center away in a cyclone the instant I have my powers back.

A cyclone? I didn't know you had wind powers? That's so cool.

Nope. I'm just a normal human. I don't really know anyone with powers either. Well, before coming here.

I see... I wonder what it is about a world that determines if the people within it have powers or not.
